Thanks for a great clue Ghost. I thought you were really on to something....i had recently replaced the fender bolts to accomodate the 140/90 tire. Also, I had never noticed this prob before. The bike came with the larger tire but it was rubbing the bolt heads, but not the fender. So today I removed the rear wheel and loosened and retightened, left side first. I was thrilled to actually see the fender move to the left, but I could not see how far because the wheel was off. But after retightening the right side fender bolts, it must have just pulled it right back, because after all was reassembled, the problem was unchanged...no more clearance tha before. man am I bummed.
